Studying short suras from the Koran: transcription in Russian and video. On the importance of reading the last verses of Sura “Bakara Sura al Bakara first 5 verses transcription

Our Prophet (SAAS) said: “The Qur’an will come on the Day of Judgment, and those people who acted on it in life, the suras “Cow” and “Family of Imran” will be ahead of them, interceding for those who read them and practiced them.” Another hadith states that these suras will be like clouds above them. (Muslim)

The main idea of the sura is the governorship of man on Earth and his responsibility for all his actions.

Surah "Cow" was revealed in Madina and consists of 286 verses. It is the longest of the suras, revealed immediately after the migration (hijra) to Medina. Muslims began to build a new society away from pagan oppressors. Immediately upon his arrival in Medina, the Prophet (saas) took three important steps in this direction.
Firstly, he organized fraternization between settlers (Muhajirs) and local Muslims (Ansars). Secondly, began construction of the mosque.
Third, he concluded an agreement on relations with the Madinian Jews.
Muslims at that time were especially in dire need of the guidance of Allah Almighty. Having gone through a period of trials and strengthened their faith, they now had to make every effort to create a strong state, the law of which would be the Law of Allah. In this surah they found instructive stories about previous communities, and specific commands and prohibitions of Allah. But the main meaning of Surah “Cow” is to explain the purpose of human life - his viceroyal mission on Earth and his responsibility for everything on this Earth.

What does viceroyalty mean on Earth?
Allah is the Creator of this Earth, all of it belongs to Him. By His Grace and Holy Will, having created man and given him freedom of choice, mind and soul, Allah ordered him to be a governor on earth, that is, to observe the laws of the Almighty Lord himself and to ensure that they are not violated by others. Similar obligations have been assigned to different communities throughout human history. Some of them coped with their mission, others were not successful. The community of the Prophet Muhammad (saas) is the last of the communities entrusted with this mission, and the responsibility for the governorship rests with us until the Day of Judgment.

Surah “Cow” is a source of inexhaustible wisdom, an edifying lesson and precise guidance for those who are aware of such responsibility.
As mentioned above, this surah contains stories about previous prophets and their communities, as well as the laws and commands of Allah for the community of Muhammad (saas).

First part of the sura:
1. Introduction
2. The Story of Adam
3. History of the sons of Israel
4. The story of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)

Introduction
The introductory part of the sura (up to verse 20) talks about various categories of people on Earth - God-fearing, unbelievers and hypocrites. The distinctive features of each group are described.

Categories of people:
1. Those who are wary (God-fearing). Verses 1-5:
1.Alif. Lam. Mime.
2. This Scripture, of which there is no doubt, is a sure guide for the God-fearing,
3. those who believe in the unseen, perform prayer and spend from what We have provided for them,
4. who believe in what was revealed to you and in what was revealed before you and are convinced of the Hereafter.
5. They follow guidance from their Lord, and they are successful.

2. Non-believers. Verses 6-7:
6. Indeed, it makes no difference to the disbelievers whether you have warned them or not. They still won't believe.
7. Allah has sealed their hearts and their ears, and over their eyes is a veil. Great torment is in store for them
.

3. Hypocrites. Verses 8-20:
8. Among the people there are those who say: “We believe in Allah and the Last Day.” However, they are unbelievers.
9. They try to deceive Allah and the believers, but they deceive only themselves and do not realize it.
10. Their hearts are stricken with disease. May Allah intensify their illness! They are destined for painful suffering because they lied.
11. When they are told: “Do not spread wickedness on earth!” - they answer: “Only we establish order.”
12. Indeed, it is they who spread wickedness, but they are not aware of it.
13. When it is said to them: “Believe as the people have believed,” they say: “Shall we believe as the fools have believed?” Indeed, they are the fools, but they do not know it.
14. When they meet those who believe, they say: “We believe.” When they are left alone with their devils, they say: “Truly, we are with you. We're just making fun of you."
15. Allah will mock them and increase their iniquity in which they wander blindly.
16. They are the ones who bought error for guidance. But the deal did not bring them profit, and they did not follow the direct path.
17. They are like one who kindled a fire. When the fire illuminated everything around him, Allah deprived them of the light and left them in darkness, where they could not see anything.
18. Deaf, dumb, blind! They will not return to the straight path.
19. Or they are like those caught in a downpour from heaven. He brings darkness, thunder and lightning. In mortal fear, they plug their ears with their fingers from the roar of lightning. Indeed, Allah embraces the disbelievers.
20. Lightning is ready to take away their sight. When it flares up, they set off, but when darkness falls, they stop. If Allah had willed, He would have deprived them of hearing and sight. Verily, Allah is capable of every thing.

2. The story of Adam.
What follows is the story of the first man on earth - the prophet Adam (peace be upon him). He is also the first governor. “Behold, your Lord said to the angels: “I will install a vicegerent on earth.” They said, “Will You place there someone who will spread mischief and shed blood, while we glorify You with praise and sanctify You?” He said: “Indeed, I know what you do not know.” He taught Adam all kinds of names and then showed them to the angels and said: “Tell me their names, if you are telling the truth.” They replied: “Glorified are You! We know only what You taught us. Verily, You are the Knowing, the Wise.” (30-32)

It should be noted that already in this first story the Quran talks about the importance of knowledge. It was precisely because Adam (peace be upon him), by the Will of Allah, surpassed the angels in his knowledge, Allah made him a vicegerent. At the same time, we receive instructions regarding the source of knowledge - first of all, we need to turn to the Most Knowledgeable and Wise One. However, for viceroyship, knowledge alone is not enough - you need worship and obedience to the laws of Allah.

“Satan caused them to stumble over it and brought them out from where they were. And then We said: “Cast yourself down and be enemies to each other! The earth will be your abode and object of use until a certain time.” Adam accepted the words from his Lord and He accepted his repentance. Verily, He is the Acceptor of repentance, the Merciful. We said: “Get out of here, everyone!” If guidance comes to you from Me, then those who follow My guidance will have no fear, nor will they grieve.” (36-38)

Adam (peace be upon him) repented to his Lord and Allah forgave him. This story is an example of how a person can always return to the true path, to forgiveness from Allah. There is always an opportunity to correct your mistakes.

3. History of the sons of Israel
The following story is dedicated to the children of Israel - the community that immediately preceded us. This experience is negative. History begins with the instructions given to this people.
“O children of Israel! Remember my favor which I showed you. Be faithful to your covenant with Me, and I will be faithful to your covenant. You're the only one who fears me"(40).

This is followed by a list of the blessings that Allah has shown to this people.
“Behold, We saved you from the family of Pharaoh. They subjected you to terrible tortures, killing your sons and leaving your women alive. This was a great test (or a great favor) for you from your Lord. Behold, We opened the sea for you, saved you, and drowned the family of Pharaoh while you looked on. So We assigned forty days to Musa (Moses), and after his departure you began to worship the calf, being wrongdoers. After that We forgave you, so perhaps you will be grateful."(49-52)

“We overshadowed you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails: “Eat of the good things We have provided for you.” They were not unfair to Us - they acted unfairly to themselves.”(57)

Moreover, Allah Almighty said:
« O sons of Israel (Israel)! Remember My favor which I bestowed upon you, and that I have exalted you above the worlds"(122)

The following verses talk about How did the children of Israel make use of their position as chosen slaves?. The story of the cow is given, which clearly shows why this community was unable to properly exercise the viceroyship of the earth. Here are the main mistakes they made.
1. Materialism.

The sons of Israel wanted to see Allah with their own eyes and constantly demanded new signs. “So you said: “O Myca (Moses)! We will not believe you until we see Allah openly" (55)

2. Challenging the Truth.
The prophets did not order anything on their own, their orders are the commands of Allah, and He commands the truth.
“So Musa (Moses) said to his people: “Allah orders you to slaughter a cow.” They said: “Are you mocking us?” He said: “Allah forbid that I should be one of the ignorant.”
They said: “Pray to your Lord for us, that He may make clear to us what she is like.” He said, “He says she is neither old nor a heifer, but middle-aged between them. Do what you are told!”
They said: “Pray to your Lord for us, so that He will clarify to us what color it is.” He said, “He says this cow is light yellow in color. She makes people happy."
(67-69)

(70): “They said: “Pray to your Lord for us, so that He will explain to us what it is like, because cows seem to us similar to one another. And if Allah wills, we will follow the straight path.” (71): He said: “He says that this cow is not accustomed to plow the land or irrigate the field. She is healthy and unmarked." They said, “Now you have brought the truth.” Then they stabbed her to death, although they were close to not doing so».

3. Disobeying the prophets.
Even after clear instructions came from the Almighty Lord on how to return to the true path, there were those who persisted in sin.
“So you said: “O Musa (Moses)! We cannot bear monotonous food. Pray to your Lord for us, so that He will grow for us from what grows on the earth, vegetables, cucumbers, garlic, lentils and onions.” He said: “Are you really asking to replace the better with the worse? Go down to any city, and there you will receive everything you asked for.” They suffered humiliation and poverty. They incurred the wrath of Allah by rejecting the signs of Allah and unjustly killing the prophets. This happened because they were disobedient and transgressed the boundaries of what was permitted." (61)

4. Tricks.
It is a mistake to believe that trying to “outwit” Allah can be successful.
« So We said: “Enter this city and eat to your heart’s content wherever you wish. Enter the gate, bowing, and say: “Forgive us!” We will forgive your sins and increase the reward for those who do good.” The wrongdoers replaced the word spoken to them with another, and We sent down on the wrongdoers a punishment from heaven because they did wrong."(58-59)

These verses contain edification for us. By moving away from all forms of such bickering, we will be able, by the grace of the Almighty, to fulfill our viceroyal mission.

“Don’t you know that to Allah belongs the power over the heavens and the earth and that you have no protector or helper besides Allah?
Or do you want to ask your Messenger, as they (the sons of Israel) asked Musa (Moses) before? Whoever exchanges faith for unbelief has already strayed from the straight path.”
(107-108)

4. The story of the prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).

As a positive example, we are given the story of the prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him). This greatest prophet was a devotee of Allah, patiently endured trials throughout his life and worthily fulfilled the mission that Allah entrusted to him:
“The Lord tested Ibrahim (Abraham) with commands, and he fulfilled them. He said, “I will make you a leader of the people.” He said: “And from my descendants.” He said, “My covenant will not concern the wrongdoers.” (124) “The Lord said to Ibrahim (Abraham): “Submit!” He said: “I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds.” (131)

"They said, 'Convert to Judaism or Christianity and you will follow the straight path.' Say: “No, to the religion of Ibrahim (Abraham), who was a monotheist and was not one of the polytheists.” (135)
(136): Say: “We believe in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishmael (Ishmael), Ishaq (Isaac), Yaqub (Jacob) and the tribes (the twelve sons of Yaqub ) what was given to Musa (Moses) and Isa (Jesus) and what was given to the prophets by their Lord. We make no distinction between them, and to Him alone we submit.”

Final conclusions on the first part of the sura
History Lessons (Human Responsibility):

  • Adam (peace be upon him):(30): “Behold, your Lord said to the angels: “I will install a vicegerent on earth.”
  • Children of Israel:(40). “O children of Israel! Remember the favor I showed you.”
  • Ibrahim (peace be upon him)(124): : “I will make you a leader of people.”

Thus, Allah gave us three examples: the enlightening example of Adam (peace be upon him), the unsuccessful example of the sons of Israel, and the successful example of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). These stories contain instructions for those who have accepted the right faith and realized the responsibility of a believer for viceroyship.

The second part of the sura (verses 143-286) talks about orders and prohibitions sent down from Allah to people.

It deals with the most important aspects of worship, such as: prayer, fasting, almsgiving, pilgrimage; Issues of protecting people's lives, inheriting property, borrowing and paying debts, as well as prohibited and permitted food and divorce proceedings are also considered.
The wisdom of Shariah laws lies in the fact that their implementation increases a person's fear of God. In turn, a God-fearing person strives for obedience. As a result, these two sides of religiosity - external and internal - support each other, keeping their owner on the straight path.

    1. Test for believers.
(143): “...We have appointed the qibla towards which you turned your face before, only to distinguish those who follow the Messenger from those who turn back. This turned out to be difficult for everyone except those whom Allah led to the straight path..."

    2. Distinctive features of the community of the Prophet Muhammad (saas)
    2.1. In terminology:
These are the words with which Allah commanded us to call upon Him:
(104): “O you who believe! Don't tell the Prophet: "Take care of us!" - and say: “Keep an eye on us!” and listen." (156): “Who, when trouble befalls them, say: “Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we will return.”

    2.2. In qibla:
(144): “Turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque.”
The second difference is our qibla, that is, the side to which we turn our faces during prayer. It is known that at first Muslims prayed with their faces to the side. The most remote mosque in Jerusalem(Al-Aqsa).
However, in Surah "Cow" Allah ordered to change the qibla in the direction Sacred Mosque(Al-Haram), that is, the Kaaba. In times of ignorance, people worshiped the Kaaba itself as an idol. Therefore, in order to eradicate any associations with idolatry, an order was given to face the Al-Aqsa Mosque. When people realized the essence of Monotheism, Allah again commanded them to turn to the Kaaba. With this order he separated the true believers and those who obey from those who turn back. “Foolish people will say: “What made them turn away from the qibla to which they turned their faces before?” Say: “The East and the West belong to Allah. He guides whomever He wishes to the straight path.”(142)

The meaning of turning to the Kaaba is explained in the following verses:
« Everyone has a side where they face. Strive to get ahead of each other in good deeds. Wherever you are, Allah will bring you all together. Verily, Allah is capable of every thing.
Wherever you come from, turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. Indeed, this is the truth from your Lord. Allah is not ignorant of what you do
    "(148-149)

2.3. The third difference is moderation.
Allah Almighty said: (143): “We have made you a community that adheres to the middle, so that you bear witness for all humanity, and the Messenger bears witness for yourselves...”

Moderation is harmony between soul and body. If a person pays excessive attention to the body, then sooner or later he feels emptiness in his soul or becomes completely mired in passions. However, the worship of one who has neglected the body cannot be perfect, because it has a right to the person himself. The soul, body and mind must all participate in worship. Moderation leads a person to piety, about which Allah said:
(177): " Godliness does not consist in turning your faces to the east and west. But pious is the one who believed in Allah, in the Last Day, in the angels, in the Scripture, in the prophets, who distributed property, despite his love for him, to relatives, orphans, the poor, travelers and those asking, spent it on freeing slaves, committed prayer, paid zakat, kept contracts after their conclusion, showed patience in need, in illness and during battle. These are the ones that are true. Such are the God-fearing».

2.4. Fourth difference - an indication of the performance of such a rite of worship as pilgrimage (158): “ Indeed, as-Safa and al-Marwa are one of the ritual signs of Allah. Whoever makes the Hajj to the Kaaba or the Lesser Pilgrimage, he commits no sin if he passes between them».

2.5. Finally, the fifth difference between the community of the Prophet Muhammad (s.) is that it will be called as a witness about other communities on the Day of Judgment.

Abu Saeed Al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “On the Day of Resurrection, Nuh will be called, and he will say: “I am here, O my Lord, and ready to serve You!” Allah will ask: “Have you conveyed Our message (to your people)?” And he will answer: “Yes!” Then his fellow tribesmen will be asked: “Has he brought it to you?” They will answer: “No warner came to us!” Allah will ask: “Who will testify that you are right?” He will say: “Muhammad and the members of his community” And Muslims will testify that he truly conveyed the message of Allah. As for the Messenger, he will become a witness for you, and this is the meaning of the words of the Most High, may His glory be great: (143): “We have made you a community that adheres to the middle, so that you will bear witness to all humanity, and the Messenger will bear witness to you. themselves..."(Bukhari)

3.Orders and prohibitions in all areas
    1. Criminal law:
(179): “In this Law lies the safety of your life - O you who have understanding! “So that you can gain piety”

    2. Inheritance:
(180): “When death approaches one of you and he leaves behind property, he is ordered to leave a will to his parents and next of kin on reasonable terms.”

    3. Rituals:
(183): " O you who believe! Fasting has been prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those who came before you, so that you may gain piety.»

    God-fearing
(2): " This Scripture, of which there is no doubt, is a sure guide for the God-fearing.”
(179): In this Law lies the safety of your life………. So that you may gain piety"
(183): “Fasting is prescribed for you…… So that you may attain piety.”
(189): “But he is pious who fears God
    ».

Thus, Allah Almighty gives a person a general strategy of behavior, gives the main guiding lines of life. This:

    1. Submission

    2. Following the distinctions given to the community of Muhammad (SAAS)

    3. Fear of God

Allah willed the last community to be like this, and this is what He made the distinctive features of the last governors to be. He gave a system of action, commanding us to obey his orders, fear God, be active and diligently follow the straight path. He told us about this last aspect in the story of Dawud and Jalut (see verses 246-252). Diligence is manifested in fighting in the path of Allah with property, giving alms, and fighting according to His orders.

    Persistence and diligence
(190): " Fight in the path of Allah with those who fight against you, but do not overstep the boundaries of what is permitted.»
(195): " Donate in the way of Allah….»
(197): " Hajj is performed in certain months...”

    Islam is an all-encompassing system:
(208): " O you who believe! Embrace Islam in its entirety»
(85): " Will you believe one part of the Scripture and reject another part?”

So Allah explained to us in this surah the essence of vicegerency and showed us the path of piety.
It is also worth noting that it is in this surah that the verse of the Throne (verse al-Kursi) is found:

(255): " Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Living, the Sustainer of life. Neither drowsiness nor sleep takes possession of him. To Him belongs what is in heaven and what is on earth. Who will intercede before Him without His permission? He knows their future and past. They comprehend from His knowledge only what He wills. His Throne embraces the heavens and the earth, and His protection of them does not burden Him. He is the Exalted, the Great»
The Prophet (saas) is reported to have said: “ Only death will separate from heaven the one who begins to read this verse after every prayer" (An-Nasai)

Another extremely important postulate is that no one can be forced to convert to Islam:
(256): " There is no compulsion in religion. The straight path has already been distinguished from error..."

The last verses of Surah “Cow” are especially noted - 285-286.
It is reported that Ibn Abbas (r.) said: “Once, when Jibril (a.s.) was sitting with the Prophet (s.), he heard a sound coming from above, raised his head and said: “ This sound was made from afar by the gates of lower heaven, which were opened today, but had never been opened before today, and through these gates an angel descended, who had never descended to earth before. He pronounced words of greeting and said: “You have been given two lights that were not given to any of the prophets who lived before you, rejoice in them! This is Surah Al-Fatihah and the final part of Surah The Cow, and whatever you read from them, you will definitely be granted it!(Muslim)

(285): " The Messenger and the believers believed in what was sent down to him from the Lord. They all believed in Allah, His angels, His Scriptures and His messengers. They say: “We make no distinction between His messengers.” They say: “We listen and obey! We ask for your forgiveness, our Lord, and return to you.”
(286): “Allah does not impose on a person beyond his capabilities. He will receive what he has acquired, and what he has acquired will be against him. Our Lord! Don't punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place on us the burden that You placed on our predecessors. Our Lord! Don't burden us with what we can't do. Be lenient with us! Forgive us and have mercy! You are our Patron. Help us to prevail over unbelievers
    ».

These two verses are one of the best forms of du'a to Allah Almighty.

In addition, it is reported from the words of Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: “Shaitan avoids the house in which Surah “Cow” is recited. (Bukhari)

The importance of the last 2 verses of Surah Al-Baqarah

An authentic hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) states that reading these two verses at night is enough to protect oneself from evil, and the reason for this is their glorious meaning.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Allah completed Surah Al-Baqarah with two verses and rewarded me from the treasury that is under his Highest Throne. You too learn these verses, teach them to your wives and children. These verses can be read in both ways dua."

“Whoever reads Amana-r-rasula before going to bed will be as if he had performed a divine service until the morning.”

"Allah gave me Surah Al-Baqarah from the treasury under His Throne. This was not given to any prophet before me."

Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “An intelligent person will not go to bed without reading the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah.”

Abd Allah ibn Masud said: “The Messenger of Allah to Miraj was granted three things: prayer five times a day, the last verse of Surah Al-Baqarah and intercession for those who died without ascribing partner to Allah.”

They say: “We make no distinction between His messengers.” They say: “We listen and obey! We ask for your forgiveness, our Lord, and we are about to come to you.”

2:286

Translation of meaning:

« Allah does not impose on a person beyond his capabilities. Help us to prevail over unbelievers."

Transcription of the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah:

“Aamanar-rasulyu bimee unzilya ileikhi mir-rabbihi wal-mu'minuun, kullun aamana billahi wa malayaikyatihi wa kutubihi wa rusulihi, laya nufarrika beina ahadim-mir-rusulih, wa kaalyuyu sami'na wa ata'na, gufranakya rabbanaa wa ilaik yal- masyyr. Many hadiths have reached us about the virtues of these two verses. Ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“To anyone who read the last two verses from Surah Al-Baqarah at night. This will be enough" (Muslim).

“Whoever reads the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night will be protected that night from fire and other dangers.”

“Allah completed Surah Al-Baqarah with two verses and rewarded me from the treasury that is under His Highest Throne. You too will learn these verses, teach them to your wives and children. These verses can also be read as a dua.”

“Whoever reads Amana-r-rasula before going to bed will be as if he had performed a divine service until the morning.”

“Allah gave me Surah Al-Baqarah from the treasury under His Throne. This was not given to any prophet before me.”

Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “About a person who did not read the last three verses of Surah Al-Baqarah before going to bed, I cannot say that he is smart.” Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “An intelligent person will not go to bed without reading the last verses of Surah Al-Baqarah.”

Abd Allah ibn Masud said: “The Messenger of Allah to Miraj was granted three things: prayer five times a day, the last verse of Surah Al-Baqarah and intercession for those who died without ascribing partner to Allah.”

Surah Baqarah is the second and largest chapter in the Holy Scripture. It was revealed in Medina after the emigration of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Its name literally translates as “Cow”. This greatest sura received this name thanks to the legend about the prophet Musa and the cow slaughtered by the sons of Israel. It is truly called the essence of Islam, as it contains many signs and edifications for humanity, parables of the prophets, as well as injunctions regarding the basic rites of Islam. The verses of this surah are replete with metaphors of the great Arabic language and allow you to feel the powerful energy of the Holy Scripture. It is enough that the verse of Al-Kursi is part of this surah.

Mysterious letters

The chapter of Al Baqarah begins with three letters of the Arabic alphabet: Alif, Lam, Mim. In Arabic, the 28 letters and 29 surahs of the Qur'an begin with different combinations of letters. For many centuries, Islamic scholars have been trying to unravel the secret and meaning of these combinations. Many hypotheses have been put forward, both by Arab scientists and their Western colleagues. But since there are no detailed references or explanations about this circumstance either in the Holy Book or in the sunnah of the noble prophet, this truth will remain a mystery until the Day of Judgment. Of course, there is some kind of symbolism hidden in this, known only to the Creator and still completely misunderstood by humanity. Modern Muslims have the opportunity to listen for free to a beautiful reading of this and other surahs from such well-known readers throughout the Islamic world as Mishari Rashid and Sheikh Sudais, the imam of the Holy Mosque in Mecca.

Parables of Surah Al-Baqarah

The first verse of the greatest chapter of the Holy Scripture states that this book was revealed to true Muslims who fear Allah and seek His pleasure. Thus Allah warns the disbelievers and hypocrites. And calls a person to worship: “Oh people! Serve your Lord, who created you and those before you from nothingness, so that you may beware!” (Surah al-Baqarah, verse 21).

From the 30th verse of this surah, the story of the creation of Adam (peace be upon him!) and his companion begins. The Almighty reports that man was originally created in order to become His vicegerent on earth: “And so your Lord said to the angels: “I will establish a vicegerent on earth.” Next we learn about how Satan deceived them and became the reason for the expulsion of the first people from Paradise to earth.

In verse 50 of the chapter of Al-Baqarah, Allah reminds believers of the miracle that, by the will of the Almighty, happened to the sons of Israel when they escaped from the cruel Pharaoh and his army. Then Musa (peace be upon him!) with one wave of his staff divided the sea into two halves and his people received a path of salvation. Along this path, Musa and the sons of Israel crossed to the other side of the sea, and Pharaoh and his army were drowned by the will of the Almighty. This sign, like many others, was sent down to Musa as proof of his messenger chosenness, for example: twelve springs of water, varied food in the desert, reviving the dead. And finally we come to the story that gives the entire sura its name, the story of the sacrificial cow. Verse 67 says: “Verily Allah commands you to slaughter a cow.” Unfortunately, Musa's people did not obey the command of their Creator, but cunningly inquired about the signs of the cow that was to be sacrificed. But Allah revealed their deceitful intent: “And so you (oh, descendants of Israel) killed a soul and argued about it, and Allah brings out what you hid.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 72). Thus, Allah warns people against lies and deceit, informing them that there is nothing unknown to the Creator of heaven and earth!

In addition to the stories listed above, the text of the chapter of Al-Baqarah contains many other parables. For example, it mentions the angels Harut and Marut, who taught magic to the inhabitants of Babylon. And also here we learn about Ibrahim’s conversation with his people, which he convinced that Allah is the only true Creator.

The greatest sura contains reminders and signs for the understanding part of humanity, such as: the creation of heaven and earth, the change of day and night, the falling of rains, the change of seasons, the existence of wind, the movement of clouds and many other signs that help believers to realize the greatness of our Creator and become His a grateful slave. Every Muslim should strive to regularly read Surah Al-Baqarah, as well as its tafsir, for a deeper understanding of the meaning of the revelations of the Almighty.

Legal aspects in Surah Al-Baqarah

The second sura of the Holy Scripture abounds not only in the lives of the prophets. It also contains many regulations and rules relating to various areas of a Muslim’s life. In it we will find a ban on the consumption of carrion, blood, pork and any other meat that is not slaughtered in the name of the Almighty. It also reports on Allah’s commands regarding wine and gambling.

This surah also describes in detail the conditions for marriage and divorce, the rules of inheritance in the event of the death of close relatives. It is important to note that in Islam, for the first time since the existence of mankind, women are given the right to inherit. And their share is specifically enshrined in the verses of the Koran.

Much attention is paid in this chapter to Ramadan and the rules of fasting. Allah indicates the high importance of this month among Muslims (as the month in which the revelation of the Koran began).

The meaning of life examples in the Quran

As we see, Allah gives many parables, biographies of prophets, examples from the lives of ancient people. What's the point of this? Islamic scholars believe that the wisdom of all the stories and examples given in the Koran is to encourage a person to reflect on the universe, on the meaning of his life. The Almighty speaks about it this way in the Koran: “We give such parables to people so that they may meditate.” (Surah al-Hashr, verse 21). And this is the greatest wisdom of the Creator and His mercy to man! Thus, a true believer has the opportunity to come to the truth as a result of his reflections, but the wicked during such reflections only strengthen their delusions, not understanding the true meaning of the parables and stories of the Koran. And what is noteworthy is that the Creator does not hesitate to cite even such seemingly insignificant creatures as mosquitoes or spiders as instructive examples. But truly, everything has its own wisdom and meaning!

To correctly understand the examples and parables of the Holy Scripture, every Muslim should try not only to read more of the Holy Scripture, but also to study the tafsirs of the heavenly book of authoritative Islamic scholars. One of them is Abd ar-Rahman bin Nasir al-Saadi (may Allah have mercy on him), who completed his multi-volume work on the interpretation of the Quran, “Relief from the Generous and Merciful” in 1344 AH. This collection is one of the deeply scientific, widely accepted and accepted interpretations of the Holy Scriptures by the Islamic Ummah. You can listen to his mp3 recording without being distracted from worldly affairs, in the car, on the subway, at work, or just walking down the street.

Sad events

The two hundred and eighty-first verse of Al-Baqara was revealed last shortly before the death of our noble prophet. This happened in the tenth year of the Hijri, after the messenger returned to Medina after his Farewell Pilgrimage. One day, the prophet, being terminally ill, called the believers to a Farewell Sermon. And I read this verse to them: " Fear the day when you will be returned to Allah. Then each person will receive in full what he has acquired, and they will not be treated unfairly." (Surah al-Baqarah, verse 281). At that moment, many Medinans began to cry, experiencing deep sadness and grief for their prophet.

Virtues of Al-Baqarah

According to the sunnah, this surah has the property of scaring away the devils. Therefore, if a believer wants to rid his home of these, he just needs to find and download a recording of this great sura on the World Wide Web. In addition, now any smartphone owner has the opportunity to download applications and enjoy the beautiful online reading of Surah Al-Baqarah. A truly religious person, if desired, can use every second of his life for good.

O you who believe! If you make a contract for a debt for a certain period, then write it down, and let the scribe write it down fairly. The scribe should not refuse to write it down as Allah taught him. Let him write, and let the borrower dictate, and fear Allah his Lord, and take nothing away from it. And if the borrower is weak-minded, weak, or unable to dictate for himself, let his trustee dictate fairly. Call two men from your number as witnesses. If there are not two men, then one man and two women whom you agree to accept as witnesses, and if one of them makes a mistake, then the other will remind her. Witnesses should not refuse if invited. Do not be burdened to write down the contract, be it large or small, down to indicating its term. This will be fairer before Allah, more convincing for testimony and better for avoiding doubts. But if you make a cash transaction and pay each other on the spot, then there is no sin on you if you do not write it down. But call witnesses if you enter into a trade agreement, and do not harm the clerk and the witness. If you do this, you will commit a sin. Fear Allah - Allah teaches you. Allah knows all things.

The Creator commanded His servants to take care of the preservation of their rights during transactions and agreements through useful rules that are so beautiful that even prudent men are unable to come up with more perfect regulations. Several useful conclusions can be drawn from this revelation. 1. Shariah allows borrowing money and purchasing goods on credit, since Allah has said that the faithful do so. Any actions that can be characterized by the faithful are the result of their faith and conviction, and mention of them signifies the approval of the Almighty Ruler and Judge. 2. When concluding agreements on debt obligations and lease of property, the expiration date of the agreement must be indicated. 3. If, when concluding such contracts, the expiration dates are not specified, then they are illegal because they can lead to dangerous consequences and are similar to gambling. 4. The Almighty ordered that agreements on debt obligations be written down. This requirement is mandatory if compliance with rights is mandatory, for example, if a power of attorney is issued or an agreement on guardianship, disposal of the orphan’s property, transfer of waqf (inalienable) property or guarantee is concluded. It is almost obligatory if a person has sufficient grounds to claim certain rights, and may be desirable to varying degrees depending on the circumstances. In any case, drawing up contracts in writing is considered one of the most important factors in preserving the rights of both parties, since no one is protected from forgetfulness and mistakes, and since this is the only way to protect yourself from scammers who do not fear Allah. 5. The Almighty ordered the scribes to write down the duties of both parties fairly, without making concessions to one of the parties on the basis of kinship or for other reasons, and without infringing on the rights of the other party due to enmity or for any other reason. 6. Drawing up contracts in writing is one of the worthy deeds and is considered a benefit to both parties. It helps to preserve their rights and relieves them of additional responsibility, and therefore the scribe must perform his duties faithfully so that he can enjoy his remuneration. 7. The scribe must be a person who can perform his duties correctly and fairly and who is known for his fairness. If a person does not know how to correctly draw up contracts, then he will not be able to fulfill his duties; if he is not a fair person and does not deserve the trust and recognition of others, then the agreement he has drawn up will also not be recognized by people and will not help the parties preserve their rights. 8. The scribe’s fairness is complemented by his ability to correctly express thoughts and use the terminology adopted when drawing up various contracts. In this case, an important role is given to customs and generally accepted rules. 9. Drawing up contracts in writing is a mercy of Allah towards those slaves who, without this, cannot properly fulfill their religious and worldly duties. If Allah has taught a person the ability to competently draw up contracts, then he has been shown great mercy, and in order to properly thank Allah for it, he is obliged to help people, draw up contracts for them and not refuse them such a service. Therefore, the scribes are commanded not to refuse to draw up a contract as Allah taught them. 10. The scribe should record the confession of a person who has material obligations to another party if he can clearly state his obligations. If he is unable to do this due to minor age, dementia, insanity, dumbness or incapacity, then the contract must be dictated for him by the guardian, who, when concluding the contract, acts as a responsible person. 11. Confession is one of the important circumstances through which the rights of people are confirmed, because Allah Almighty ordered the scribes to record the confessions of the party that is financially responsible. 12. If a person is not capable of bearing full responsibility due to young age, dementia, insanity or other reasons, then a guardian must act on his behalf. 13. The guardian acts on behalf of his ward in all cases where his recognition regarding his rights and obligations is required. 14. If a person appoints another person as his lawyer or entrusts him with certain powers in settling relationships with people, then the words of his authorized representative are acceptable, since he speaks on behalf of the person who authorized him. And if guardians are allowed to act on behalf of those who are not able to bear full responsibility, then this is even more permitted for authorized representatives of people who, of their own free will, entrust them with certain powers. The words of such authorized representatives are taken into account and have legal force, and in case of disagreement, they are given preference over the words of the person who authorized them. 15. A person who bears financial responsibility is obliged to fear Allah when dictating a contract or agreement, not to infringe on the rights of the other party, not to reduce the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of his duties and not to distort the terms of the agreement. On the contrary, he must fully acknowledge his duties to the other party, just as the other party must fully acknowledge their duties to him. If the parties do not do this, then they find themselves among the swindlers and swindlers. 16. Muslims are obliged to acknowledge their duties, even if they go unnoticed by others, and such an act is one of the most glorious manifestations of piety. If a person does not communicate his duties, which remain unnoticed by the other party, then this indicates the lack and imperfection of his fear of God. 17. When concluding trade transactions, Muslims are required to invite witnesses. The provision regarding the presence of witnesses when concluding debenture agreements is similar to the provision regarding the preparation of such agreements in writing, which we have already discussed, since when they are compiled in writing, evidence is actually recorded. As for cash transactions, it is better to conclude them in the presence of witnesses, but you can refuse to draw up such agreements in writing, because cash transactions are widespread, and drawing up written contracts is burdensome. 18. Witnesses must be two fair men. If their presence is impossible or difficult, then one man and two women can become witnesses. This applies to all types of relationships between people, be it the conclusion of commercial transactions or debt agreements, the execution of related conditions or documents. (The question may arise here: why did the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) make a decision on the basis of one testimony confirmed by an oath, if the beautiful verse we are discussing requires the testimony of two men or one man and two women? The point is that this In a beautiful verse, the Creator called on His slaves to take care of the preservation of their rights and mentioned the most perfect and reliable form of this, but this verse in no way contradicts the decisions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), based on the testimony of one witness, confirmed by an oath. about the preservation of rights, then before concluding a transaction, both parties must take the most perfect precautions. As for the question of resolving litigation, in such proceedings the most convincing arguments and evidence are taken into account.) 19. The testimony of two women is equivalent to the testimony of one man only in worldly matters. As for religious matters, such as the transmission of hadith or the issuance of religious decrees, in them the testimony of a woman is equivalent to the testimony of a man, and the differences between the two situations are obvious. 20. The Almighty indicated the reason why the testimony of a man is equal to the testimony of two women. It lies in the fact that women often have weak memory, while men have good memory. 21. If one witness forgot about the incident, after which the second witness reminded him of what happened, then such forgetfulness does not detract from the importance of the witness if he recalled the events in memory after the reminder. This follows from the revelation that if one of the witnesses makes a mistake, the other must remind her. Moreover, one should accept the testimony of a person who forgot about the incident and then remembered it without a reminder, since the testimony must be based on awareness and conviction. 22. As we have just noted, evidence must be based on knowledge and conviction and cannot be based on doubt, and if a witness doubts his own words, then he is prohibited from giving evidence. Even if a person is inclined towards certain testimony, he must still testify only to what he knows for certain. 23. A witness does not have the right to refuse to testify if he is invited to appear as a witness, and speaking in this capacity is one of the worthy acts, since Allah ordered the faithful to do so and communicated the benefits of this. 24. It is prohibited to harm the scribe and witnesses by inviting them to perform their duties at an inconvenient time for them and under such circumstances that may harm them. Responsible parties must also not harm the scribe and witnesses, and the scribe and witnesses must not harm the responsible parties or either of them. It follows that if drawing up contracts and agreements in writing, participating as a witness or giving evidence could cause harm, then people may refuse to perform the duties of a scribe and a witness. 25. The Almighty emphasized that Muslims should not harm all those who do good, and should not burden them with unbearable responsibilities. The Almighty said: “Is good rewarded except with good?” (55:60). As for those who do good, they must perform their duties in the most perfect manner, without reproaching people with the service they provide and without offending them either in word or deed, since otherwise their actions cannot be righteous. 26. The scribe and witnesses have no right to accept remuneration for their services, because Allah has obliged slaves to write down contracts and act as witnesses and because remuneration for such services is detrimental to the parties entering into contracts and agreements. 27. The Almighty drew the attention of the slaves to the enormous benefits that they could derive if they faithfully followed these glorious instructions. They will be able to preserve their rights, maintain justice, get rid of disputes and mutual claims, and insure themselves against forgetfulness and absent-mindedness. That is why Allah said that observing the revealed injunctions will be fairer before Him, more convincing for evidence and better for avoiding doubts. People really feel an urgent need for these things. 28. Studying the rules for drawing up contracts in writing relates to religious issues, since this skill allows you to maintain faith and worldly well-being and provide services to others. 29. If Allah has honored a person with a special skill that other people need, then in order to thank Him properly, a person must use his skill for the benefit of His slaves, satisfying their needs. This conclusion follows from the fact that immediately after the prohibition on avoiding drawing up contracts in writing, Allah reminded the scribes that it was He who taught them how to draw up contracts correctly. And although such a service is their duty, Allah will certainly satisfy their needs as long as they satisfy the needs of their brothers. 30. Causing harm to witnesses and scribes is impiety, which means evading obedience to Allah and disobedience. Wickedness can be manifested in greater or lesser degrees and in many different forms, and therefore He did not call believers who do not obey this command wicked, but said that they were committing sin. The more a person evades obedience to the Lord, the more pronounced his wickedness and fall from grace become. 31. Fearing God is a means of acquiring knowledge, because Allah has promised to train slaves who practice fear of God. Even more expressive is the following revelation on this matter: “O you who believe! If you fear Allah, He will give you the ability to distinguish between truth and falsehood, forgive you your sins and forgive you” (8:29). 31. The acquisition of useful knowledge includes not only the study of religious issues related to the rites of worship, but also the study of worldly sciences related to relationships between people, because Allah takes care of all the religious and worldly affairs of His slaves and because His great scripture has explained any questions.
