Review of the anime series Vampire Knight. Anime “Vampire Knight”: characters (Yuki Cross, Zero Kiryu, Kaname Kuran and others)

"Vampire Knight" is a touching story about the life of vampires in human society. It talks about how such creatures can coexist hand in hand with those who are their potential food. The anime "Vampire Knight" shows us a story about an ordinary girl with her own problems. But the essence of her problems lies in the fact that she is faced with the choice of her life path. Beautiful vampires and a young girl, that's what can really intrigue us! And her choice is this: a mysterious “bad guy” with a complicated and tragic past or a noble, mysterious friend from childhood memories. This choice faces her throughout the entire anime. And both of these guys are in love with her, although each shows it as he sees fit.

The series takes place at Cross Academy, where there are two shifts of education: for a day class and a night class. The day class is filled with ordinary teenagers, and the night class is filled with vampires. And this division by class was created in order to prove and make sure that they can all live together and without any unnecessary problems. The idea of creating such a school belonged to the rector of the academy - the emotional and kind Cross Cayenne. This idea, most likely, was correct and had a positive ending, since after all, vampires were able to resist their animal instincts, suppressing them with a blood substitute - pills. But some of them are still very thirsty for human blood...

Yuki- the main character, the adopted daughter of the director of Cross Academy. She is a cheerful and carefree girl, the head girl. She practically does not remember what happened to her in childhood, as she has lost her memory. All that she remembers very well is a winter evening when she was attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire and saved by another - Kaname Kuran, who gave her under the care of Rector Cross. Since then, she gets along with him quite well, considers him her closest person, although she knows that he is the same as the one who attacked her. She is very attached to Kaname, even if he betrays her, she will forgive him and understand everything! But all this was until a mysterious boy, Zero, appeared at the academy. He looked very lonely and tragic. From that moment on, Yuki fell in love with Zero very much, wanted to help and support him in the most difficult moments of his life! This is where the triangle appears: Zero - Yuki - Kaname.

The plot gets very confusing when Yuki finds out that the man with whom she lived for 4 years, helping him and helping him out in everything, turns out to be a vampire. "Zero Vampire!" She found out when he unexpectedly bit her in the evening. Since Zero’s health was very bad (after all, he is not a purebred vampire, but just a victim who was bitten once in childhood), Yuki decided to give him a certain dose of this drug - her blood! She can’t leave him in trouble... But, nevertheless, he is trying to create a cold and impenetrable wall in his relationship with her. But his feelings are obvious!

Vampire Knight also features various battles between vampires, as well as vampires and hunters. The attitude of aristocratic vampires towards ordinary people, as well as against purebloods, is shown, and these relations are very diverse.

I would also like to briefly describe the main characters:

Zero Kiriu- Yuki's childhood friend, he is also the Guardian of Cross Academy and is on the disciplinary committee. His family was killed by the pureblood vampire Shizuka Hio when he was still a child. From that moment on, Zero hates all vampires and believes that they are all bloodthirsty monsters in human form and must die. And besides all this, he was also bitten by Shizuka, and she is a pureblood, which is why he turned into a vampire. Also, his body does not accept any blood substitutes and requires real blood, since he cannot quench his thirst.

Kaname Kuran- purebred vampire. He saved Yuki from a vampire who attacked her when she was six years old. Kaname is the president of the Night Class, he is feared and respected by the rest of the students. He is always cold and distant with his classmates, but is kind and affectionate with Yuki. He cares and protects her as best he can since he saved her. She is a little jealous of Zero, since he drinks Yuki's blood. He doesn’t need anyone but her in this life, and he will do everything to make her happy. Because he truly loves her.

Now I want to talk about music. The musical accompaniment in the anime is very suitable for the main plot. It cannot leave even the most fastidious people about music indifferent. This is a beautiful combination of violin and piano, these are works that bring to the deepest thoughts and make a person shed tears. Not everyone can write such works, only such a wonderful composer as Haketa Takefumi. Many thanks to him for this!
The drawing is wonderful, in moments it resembles a manga, all nature, people, faces are shown very beautifully. All this is at the highest level. The only thing that’s a little annoying is that the animators gave Yuki too big eyes, but in general everything is pretty good! Well done!

What to do when first love is a strange triangle in which there is a person, a vampire and a person bitten by a vampire. Reminds me of a dinner party. And gradually this dinner turns into a thriller: the girl becomes a vampire, the bitten man turns into a monster, and angry relatives come from the past with strange goals. This is not a Brazilian series, but just an anime “Vampire Knight”, the characters of which will be the topic of this publication.

What is the anime about?

Somewhere on the outskirts of the city is the elite Cross Academy, where all the events of the anime “Vampire Knight” take place. The educational institution is divided into two departments where students study: Day and Night.

No one from the Day Class knows that a whole class of vampires comes to school in the evening. This action must be kept in the strictest confidence, but high school girls cannot resist the sight of handsome men in snow-white uniforms, and they, in turn, do not mind tasting fresh blood. Therefore, in order to avoid casualties, Director Cross appoints Yuki and Zero as Guardians, who are responsible for maintaining order and keeping people away from vampires.

But one day, an unforeseen event occurs within the walls of the school, and those who remained on the side of good can move to the Night Class, under the protection of bloodsuckers. The plot of the anime “Vampire Knight” is really interesting, but special attention should be paid to the main characters of this story. In fact, without them there would be no plot.

Yuki

The anime "Vampire Knight", the characters of which are the purpose of the publication, begins with the fact that a little girl of about 5-6 years old is attacked by a vampire, but she is saved by another vampire and brought to her old acquaintance - Director Cross. So, Yuki becomes the adopted daughter of the school principal. She doesn't remember her childhood. Everything that happened to her before she was five years old is hidden behind a dark screen of uncertainty. Now Yuki Cross is a student of the Day Class and part-time Guardian, guarding the secrets of the educational institution.

The girl has a cheerful and carefree disposition. From the first episodes of the anime, it may seem that she is quite childish, but as the plot develops, she has to quickly grow up. Yuki is afraid of Kaname. Although he saved her 10 years ago, he still remains a vampire. Nevertheless, the girl communicates with him politely and feels a sense of gratitude for the help he provides her. She is also attached to Zero. They are childhood friends, and from the moment the guy showed up at Yuki's house, she wants to support him.

As a Guardian, she carries a weapon with her - the Artemis staff. The girl is sure that Kaname shows her signs of attention, considering her something like a favorite pet animal, because they live in different worlds. But he helps Yuki Cross regain her memories by turning into a vampire. As it turns out later, Yuki also belongs to the Kuran clan. The mother, trying to protect her daughter from Rido, suppressed her vampire essence so that the child could live a normal life.

Zero

Zero Kiryu comes from a line of vampire hunters. Four years ago, his family was attacked by a vampire, his parents died, and the boy was bitten. Now he can turn into a class “E” vampire at any moment (a humanoid monster with an irresistible desire to kill). But until this happens, he performs the duties of a Guardian and studies with Yuki. Because of his past, he hates the vampire race and believes that it is best to exterminate them. To maintain discipline and law and order at school, Zero possesses the “Bloody Rose” - a pistol with deadly bullets for a vampire.

Blood pills are no longer helping him, so Yuki allows him to drink her blood. Zero makes the girl promise that when he loses his mind, she will shoot him with the Bloody Rose. He likes Yuki, and everything would be fine if not for the fatal bite, turning her into a vampire and the desire to take revenge on all the purebred bloodsuckers, to which his girlfriend now belongs.

Kaname

Kaname Kuran is the last of the Kuran line. He instills a sense of fear and respect in the other vampires of the Academy, which forces them to obey unquestioningly. Therefore, he is the headman and commandant of the hostel, this allows him to control the behavior of his brothers. He communicates with his classmates a little distantly, but he shows signs of attention to Yuki, trying in every possible way to protect him. Kaname doesn’t like that the girl communicates with Zero, but saves the second’s life, since he may be useful.

After joining Rido Academy, Kaname finds himself in a real battle with many dilemmas. On the one hand, he cannot kill his uncle and part-time Master, and on the other, he has problems with the Council of Elders. But skillful distribution of responsibilities helped avoid tragedy. While the vampires protected the students from Rido and his team, Kaname managed to get rid of the Council and return to the Academy. Then, together with Yuki, he goes to the family estate.

Characters from Day Class

Actually, the plot of “Vampire Knight” is based on the fates of these three heroes. Characters with a deep and rich past must sooner or later collide so that the events of the past days are connected and resolved at one point.

However, we should not forget about the minor characters who played their role in this story.

Sayeri Wakaba. Yuki's best friend, who lives in the same dorm room with her. Unlike her classmates, she has no sympathy for the guys from the Night Class, considering them dangerous. He doesn’t believe in vampires, but calmly accepts the information that Yuki is a real vampire.
Kasumi Kageyama. The prefect in the Day Class who has romantic feelings for Luka.

Characters from Night Class

Night Class characters also played an important role in the anime “Vampire Knight”. If we put aside the moments with Rideau's attack and other troubles, then it is likely that Director Cross's dream of friendship between humans and vampires could become a reality.

Takuma Ichijo. He always had a friendly attitude towards human beings, but when Rido attacked, he tried to stop Kaname, since his grandfather was the head of the Council of Elders. He holds the position of vice president in the class.
Luca Soen. The guys from the Day Class are ready to throw the whole world at her feet, but she is fanatically in love with Kuran and remains with him until the end. She communicates arrogantly with people, she does not like Yuki and Zero.
Hanabusa Aido. It is perhaps impossible to notice a “vampire” in this vampire. He enjoys the attention of human girls, sometimes comes up with pranks, for which he gets “on the neck” from Kaname, but remains faithful to him to the end.

Akatsuki Kain. Cousin Aido. He pays little attention to what is happening around him, and does not always stop the antics of his relative, for which he receives along with him. Very insightful and not indifferent to Luka.
Senri Shiki. The son of Rido Kuran, who, taking advantage of his blood connection, possessed him and attacked the school. While still a student, Shiki worked as a model and was indifferent to everything that was happening.
Rima Toya. She is always close to Shiki and constantly worries about him. She also works as a model and is the first to notice that Senri has been possessed by someone else.
Seiren. Kaname's bodyguard.

In a world where people will never go, there is still a lot of unknowns. The anime "Vampire Knight" is one of thousands of stories where vampires can show human feelings and fight for their family, home, beliefs and love.

Plot
Vampire Knight takes place at Cross Academy, a prestigious private educational institution with not quite ordinary classes. Cross Academy has two departments: Day and Night. Ordinary people study at Daytime, and Nighttime students are considered the elite. It is also known that vampires age, but much more slowly than humans. Vampires are nocturnal creatures, so they do not like daylight, but it does not harm them. They are also not harmed by traditional types of weapons against vampires: crosses, garlic, holy water, etc. Vampires crossed with humans to increase the numbers of their own species. Thus, they created a society in which levels are distributed depending on the purity of the blood:

Level A - purebreds. A minority, but its representatives are the strongest vampires. Only the bite of a pureblood can turn a person into a vampire.

Level B - Noble (or Aristocrats). They have great strength, but are much weaker than purebreds. Almost all of the students in Cross Academy's Night Class are aristocrats.

Level C - ordinary vampires. They are the largest group.

Level D - vampires who were once human. A small group, since conversion is prohibited, and only level A vampires can do it.

Level E is the lowest level. This group is separated from the others because it consists of vampires who were formerly human but have now lost their minds. It is believed that all turned vampires will eventually fall to this level because they will never be able to live with the instincts of a vampire.

Vampires who have gone mad and started pointless killings (not only category E) are included in the lists of vampire hunters.

Organization
The organization of vampires is somewhat reminiscent of the Camarilla. There is a High Council, made up of pure-blooded vampires, that governs the entire vampire community. Council decisions are not subject to discussion. In theory.

But there are so few purebreds and they are so strong that each of them forms a group of devoted followers, thereby forming a kind of clan. But the unification occurs for reasons of personal affection for the leader, and not because of blood kinship.

One such clan is headed by a young pureblood vampire, Kaname Kuran. All his followers are also young and passionately in love (on the verge of yaoi) with their leader.

Kaien Cross (黒主理事長 Kurosu Rijicho?) is Yuki's adoptive father, the rector of Cross Academy and a former vampire hunter. His dream is mutual understanding between vampires and humans. The creation of the Night Class helps make this dream come true.
Sometimes he falls into childhood and is overly expressive, but he is well versed in his craft and knows how to be serious at the right moments.

Toga Yagari (Japanese 夜刈十牙 Yagari Toga?) is a vampire hunter. Previously he was the teacher of Zero and Ichiru. Many years ago, he lost an eye while saving Zero. For a time he was a Night Class teacher at Cross Academy. Continues to take care of Zero, although he does it in a very peculiar way. When the Council of Elders sentences Zero to death for killing Shizuka, Yagari is the only one to protest. He leaves a pistol for Zero so that he can shoot himself with honor if he runs out of strength to hold on and begins to fall to level E.

Shizuka Hio (Japanese 緋桜閑 Hio: Shizuka?) is a purebred vampire who bit Zero. Even her closest vampires are afraid to be near her. She is also known as the "Mad Blooming Princess", a nickname given to her by those close to her. The Vampire She Loved ( former person, who promised not to fall to Level E), was killed by Kiriya's vampire hunters, although he had not yet dropped to Level E. As revenge, she attacked Kiriya's family, killed his parents and turned Zero into a vampire, while his twin brother Ichiru left together with her and became her human servant. According to Shizuka, Ichiru is the only one she simply could not turn into a vampire. Her blood could have stopped Zero's fall to Level E, but she was killed by Kaname, who promised her before his death that her death would not be in vain and the one she hated so much, the one who played with the destinies of the purebloods, would be destroyed.

Ichiru Kiryu (Japanese: 錐生壱縷 Kiryu: Ichiru?) - Zero's twin brother. As children, they were taught by Toga Yagari. Ichiru did not possess the abilities that his brother possessed and, in addition, was very sickly. Zero and Ichiru were very close in childhood, but after Ichiru realized that he could never compare with his brother, and accidentally heard that his parents preferred to make Zero the heir of the clan rather than him, he hated his brother. When Shizuka attacked their family, he was the only one left untouched. He left with her and became her servant. Shizuka shared blood with him, causing Ichiru’s natural soreness to disappear. He loves Shizuka very much and takes her death hard. Joined Rido after he promised that those responsible for Shizuka's death would die, and reappeared at Cross Academy as a full-time student. Seems hostile towards Yuki, Zero and Kaname, but it turns out that his choice is not so clear-cut. In chapter 40 of the manga, he actually sacrifices himself to give his brother strength.

Maria Kurenai (Japanese: 紅まり亜 Kurenai Maria?) is a very distant relative of Shizuka Hio. She agreed to give Shizuka her body because she promised to make it stronger and more resilient, and Maria was naturally in poor health. She is a very modest and obedient girl, but this is combined with great emotionality. After Shizuka's death, Maria returned to her family, but before that, she asked Yuki to tell Ichiru that she would like to see him again.

Asato Ichijou (Japanese: 一条麻遠 Ichijou Asato?) ("First Elder") - Takuma's grandfather and Head of the Vampire Council. Kaname lived with him for some time after the death of his parents. Asato wanted to adopt him, but Kaname refused. Ichijou allowed his grandson to attend the Academy so that he could keep an eye on Kaname. Very cunning and calculating. I would like to see Rido, and not Kaname, at the head of the Kuran clan.

Sarah Shirabuki is a purebred vampire, heir to the Shirabuki clan. I have known Kaname since childhood. He believes that purebloods should stick together and understands perfectly well how difficult it is for Kaname among ordinary vampires and people.

Haruka Kuran is a pureblood vampire and the father of Yuki and Kaname. A pacifist, he did not want to participate in the affairs of the Council of Elders. He guessed about Rido's plans regarding his children, so Yuki's birth was a secret to everyone. For a long time held back Rideau's mini-army, but was eventually killed by him.

Juri Kuran is a pureblood vampire and the mother of Yuki and Kaname. Donated own life, to turn Yuki into a human and give her a chance to live a normal life.

Rido Kuran is Yuki's uncle, Haruka and Juri's older brother, and Senri Shiki's father. Very power-hungry and cunning. Has his own mini-army of category D vampires. The master who awakened Kaname from his sleep. Kaname was once severely wounded while trying to attack Yuki (as a result of those events, Yuki’s parents died, and she herself became human). It took a long time to recover, and did not lose the ability to move into someone else’s body. Thus, he inhabited the body of his son, Senri, and went to Cross Academy for Yuki. Ichiru Kiriya joined him after Rido promised that those responsible for Shizuka's death would die. Kaname gave him his blood, after which his body quickly recovered. Launched an attack on the Academy. It is also known that he once loved Juri Kuran.
