For the convenience of users, so that people do not have to remember and manually write codes to display certain pictures, Contact uses a tooltip - a special drop-down list where you can visually select the desired emoticon and insert it into a message or post on the wall. But this list does not contain all the emoticon codes supported by VK, only the most popular ones (otherwise the list would be too cumbersome).
