Mysticism in our heads
Marina Grishkevich says that people’s desire to believe in mysticism and fortune-telling is associated with the so-called magical thinking - when a person is faced with a situation that he cannot cope with, and believes that it is subject only to some higher powers, which cannot be measured or designated. — In general, magical thinking has been characteristic of humanity since its inception. The same shamanism, for example. I honestly admit that all the fortune tellers told me about the damage, except for one, who claimed that everything was fine with me, I was just not ready to start life again. And everyone, as one, tried to remove this very damage from me.

Then she took the needle, turned away from me, whispered something and brought it to my stretched hair. At the touch of the needle, they began to tear after each other. Only the last, sixth hair remained intact.

Baba Nina grabbed a candle standing on the table and a piece of paper and began to quickly move them in a circle. The wax on the candle turned black. She carried out similar actions several times. Gradually the melted wax became lighter, and then completely became normal, without black streaks. The fortune teller turned away from me and began to whisper something. A few minutes later she handed me the second egg and told me to hold it in my hands. She turned to the table, poured holy water, lit the wand and performed a trick with the egg. This time it just floated in the water.

Gentlemen, I confess, but cosmetics work wonders... In short, in her eyes (and maybe her cards) I appeared as a 35-year-old emancipated lady, focused on starting a family, owning her own business, owning quite a fortune and her own car. In fact, I am a not so successful unemployed journalist, daily reaping greens in the field of freelancing in the endless fields of the Internet. Little did the old woman know that this whole carnival was conceived to carry out the cruel idea of at least a little exposing the charlatans profiting from the misfortune of others.

Just words, after listening to which, a person will begin to look for exactly what he was told. “Your husband will be a wealthy businessman with blond hair and green eyes,” the fortune teller will tell the girl, and she will rush to find her prince, without even thinking that this is just a setup, a little hypnosis, a psychological move. And nothing more.
A little experiment
To test the hypothesis about suggestion, I decided to act as a fortune teller myself, removing damage. Fortunately, my friend found many friends of abandoned and lonely women who had lost hope of finding their happiness. In my apartment I have one empty room, where we put a table and comfortable sofas, bought candles, borrowed candlesticks from an old neighbor for a couple of days, and hung heavy thick curtains with an unusual pattern. The office was ready. It was not difficult to dress me appropriately - my friend works in the theater. Cosmetics, a headscarf, several decks of cards, the notorious incense sticks, vinegar, jars on a table by the window... In a word, it turned out to be a kind of typical office of a professional fortune-teller.
I spent two days under the guise of a professional fortune teller. During this time, four women visited me. I don’t know how things are going with two of my clients, but one found a job, and the next day after the ceremony, the other’s husband returned, who left her back in March... Naturally, I have nothing to do with this... Just coincidences. Just yesterday my last client came to see me and asked to see her friend. I had to refuse. And potential clients called on my cell phone several times. She got out of it... And word of mouth in the city works very well.
In the world of charlatans and fortune tellers there is practically no place for feelings. Money plays a primary role in it. How to achieve success? It is enough to know psychology and physics and be an observant person, and a little more - an actor... Telling fortunes on cards will not be difficult, because it is very easy to convince a grief-stricken person. What then is our human role? A laid out deck of cards and that's it? And fate is decided, and there are no other ways? So we become puppets, the strings of which are in the hands of home-grown card lovers... And nothing more... Our lives are drawn, colors are given to it, but we do not want or are afraid to interfere with the pictures created by fortune tellers.
